Kolkata, Oct 27 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday called for a change of guard in Bengal and said peace would be restored once the BJP was voted to power after the 2026 state Assembly polls.

Shah said infiltration from Bangladesh would be stopped once the BJP formed the government in the state and illegal settlers would be deported.

Shah was addressing a meeting after a BSF programme at Petrapole - the Indian side of the international border with Bangladesh - in North 24 Parganas district. The Home Minister unveiled an integrated check post, passenger terminal and Maitri Dwar at Petrapole.

Shah said peace will return the state only after infiltration is stopped.

" You first bring a change in West Bengal in 2026 and see how the BJP will stop illegal infiltration in the state totally,” Shah said.

The Union Minister also slammed the Trinamool Congress government headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the issue of allegedram[pant corruption in every aspect of life in the state. He wondered what the Mamata Banerjee government has done for the development of Bengal.

In contrast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was determined to ensure all-round development of the state, he said. reeling off statistics, Shah said in the past 10 years Bengal has received Rs 7.74 lakh crore of Central

funds, which was more than what the state received during the previous UPA government.

"But unfortunately, there is rampant corruption in the utilisation of Central funds in the state," Shah alleged. He also claimed the funds provided under different centrally-sponsored schemes like MGNREGA and PMAY did not reach the beneficiaries of the fund meant for alleviation of poverty.

“Only those associated with the Trinamool Congress who have got those funds," Shah alleged. UNI PC SSP
